The Practice
Meaden Architecture and Interiors is a small Architectural Practice based in Melbourne. Since our humble beginnings in 2001 we have delivered innovative and intelligent projects within institutional, education, hospitality and residential sectors.
Our Architecture is rich, engaging and memorable.
It seeks to bring meaning, purpose and poetry upon itself.
Our buildings are, visually unique and specific to the site and its makers,
experientially complex and engaging,
practical, utilitarian and efficient,
commercially viable and responsive to the current economic climate,
technically advanced utilising current best practise building science,
materiality sustainable with a focus on naturally derived building materials,
evolutionary responsive to future changes in usage
Our process brings together all stakeholder requirements, site considerations, codes and standards for evaluation, prioritization and inclusion in a design brief. The brief is carried through the project as the reference document. We translate the brief into building/object propositions and present these ideas to stakeholders through schematic drawings of plans, elevations, perspectives, three dimensional models and discussion! Resultant views of the propositions are taken away and often re-worked until a viable proposition emerges. Specialist consultants advice ensures an evolving scheme matures into a fully compliant design outcome. Once a design is agreed upon, construction drawings and tender documents move the project into the marketplace for construction. With a full service we oversee the buildings construction, commissioning and final hand over.
The Team, we employ likeminded intelligent professional’s to fully develop each projects potential.

Mark is intimately involved in all projects and provides accountability for all stages.
He has been designing architecture, interiors and specialist art objects since 1983, with his ability to create unique and project specific designs being his greatest strength.
He understands the critical relationship between the designed environment and the philosophical underpinnings of an organization or individual. The successful union of the two, as manifested in the work, promotes ownership, value recognition and longevity of use.
This achievement is a good measure of success.
